Starting our Company

Stop Playin’ University was born through the inspiration that the University of Florida’s bar scene is much too polarizing these days, which has taken away the large sense of community and fun that was common in the first days post-Covid. Stop Playin’ hopes to flip that script by becoming a known image of fun in and around campus, for all those who enjoy a casual drink or a week long bender.

The first step in creating our company was brainstorming ideas for a simple, yet effective, slogan that could be worn by students as they come out to drink. Stop Playin’ was a natural choice as it perfectly encapsulates what it means to be a fun-loving student at the University of Florida. Stop messing around, get to work, and get your grind on. These mantras are synonyms for Stop Playin, all of which make that end-of-week beer so much tastier.

So, we decided to launch a hat company to inspire a sense of community in the Gainesville population, while reminding all of the overworked students that it is ok to have fun too. As we grow, we hope to have our community grow with us, and we will remain committed to updating our Stop Playin’ Business Growth Blog, so that anyone can see what we are doing and follow in our footsteps.
